Priyanka Chopra Jonas has shared how her four-year-old daughter, Malti, is developing her own fashion sense, revealing that the youngster already chooses her own clothes.

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at InStyle’s Imagemaker Awards in Los Angeles on October 15, the actress discussed the lessons she hopes to teach her daughter, whom she shares with husband Nick Jonas.

"I already feel she has inherent style — she picks her own clothes," Chopra Jonas said. "We've always given her agency, and she always is well turned out."

The actress also explained her approach to teaching Malti about beauty and self-confidence.

"When it comes to beauty, you just have to know who you are and have a sense of self, and that always ends up being confident and beautiful … she's, you know, doing it well at a young age," she added.

Chopra Jonas, 44, and Jonas, 34, welcomed Malti via surrogate in January 2022, just over three years after their wedding.

The couple generally keeps their daughter's upbringing private but occasionally shares family moments on social media.

In a May cover story for Vogue Arabia, Chopra Jonas spoke about balancing her professional commitments with motherhood and praised Jonas for his involvement in raising their daughter.

"My whole existence revolves around her, what time she has to go to school," she said. "She is the best thing I've accomplished in my life and represents the best of Nick and me."

She also recalled how Jonas prepared Malti for a school event while she attended an interview.

"My husband is very hands-on and even today — because I had to jump on this interview — he was the one preparing her for silly hair day at school. He did the cutest lopsided pigtails on her," she said.

At the Imagemaker Awards, Chopra Jonas received the Woman of Impact Award for her work amplifying women's voices and challenging stereotypes on screen.

Reflecting on the recognition, she said her younger self would have been surprised by her achievements and her determination to overcome challenges.
