Prince William has revealed that he tried to move Travis Kelce out of a photograph featuring Taylor Swift and his children, unaware of the picture’s significance to the singer’s relationship with the NFL star.

The Prince of Wales shared the story during a surprise appearance on The Graham Norton Show. According to the BBC, the audience gasped when William walked onto the stage.

The photograph was taken in 2024, when Swift performed at Wembley Stadium in London. It was also the first picture Swift posted of herself with Kelce in the frame.

"I wasn't until recently," William told Norton when asked whether he understood the photograph’s importance.

He continued, "I hadn't appreciated the picture. And actually, I was trying to move him [Travis Kelce] out of the photo. Travis kept coming back in and I couldn't work out why he kept coming back in. I was trying to move him out, so it was just me and Taylor and the children."

Kelce, meanwhile, previously spoke positively about meeting the British royals on the New Heights podcast, which he hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce.

"He [Prince William] was the coolest m—erf—er," Kelce said. He also recalled being unsure whether royal protocol required him to bow or curtsy, or whether he could simply shake William’s hand.

William had met Swift before, at a 2013 Kensington Palace gala for the Centrepoint charity. The pair joined Bon Jovi to perform "Livin' On A Prayer", an experience William later described with embarrassment.

"To this day, I still do not know what came over me. Honestly, even now I'm cringing at what happened next, and I don't understand why I gave in," he said, explaining that Swift had encouraged him to join her.
