ISLAMABAD:

WAPDA has awarded the Hydro-Mechanical (HM-I) contract for the Diamer-Bhasha Dam project for Rs133.18 billion to a joint venture comprising PowerChina and ICAN.

The HM-I contract covers the supply, manufacture and installation of hydro-mechanical equipment and hydraulic steel structures required for the dam. These include gates and steel structures designed to regulate water flow at the project.

The equipment will be installed at the flushing tunnels, power intakes and dam inlets. The contract also includes steel linings, hoisting systems, pumping systems and associated electrical works.
