UNHCR raises issue of vulnerable Afghan DPs

ISLAMABAD:

An official of the UN body on Wednesday raised concerns about vulnerable Afghan refugees, who could face serious risks if returned to their country of origin, and called for their cases to be considered carefully.

The concern was raised by UNHCR Representative in Pakistan Noriko Takagi during a meeting with Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam.

Responding to these concerns, the minister said cases involving credible threats to life and safety required careful attention, stressing such cases should be assessed by the relevant authorities.
