Artist talk highlights Dr Abdus Sattar's creative journey, promotes cultural exchange

ISLAMABAD:
The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) hosted an artist talk and exhibition by renowned Bangladeshi artist and academic Prof Dr Md Abdus Sattar at the National Art Gallery in Islamabad on Saturday.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Hassan Raza Syed, member of the PNCA Board of Governors, alongside PNCA Director General M Ayoub Jamali and delegates from Bangladesh.
During the artist talk, Prof Dr Abdus Sattar shared insights into his artistic journey, personal experiences and the historical and cultural influences that have shaped his work. He also discussed his artworks, explaining the ideas, inspirations and creative processes behind them, offering the audience a deeper understanding of his artistic vision.
Born in Natore, Bangladesh, Prof Dr Abdus Sattar graduated in fine arts from the Bangladesh College of Arts and Crafts, now the Faculty of Fine Art at the University of Dhaka, in 1971.
In 1973, he pursued postgraduate research in painting and printmaking at Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan, India, on a scholarship from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
His artistic practice reflects a sustained engagement with painting, printmaking and visual expression, informed by his academic background and extensive experience. The event was attended by art enthusiasts, artists, academics, cultural representatives and members of the Bangladeshi delegation. The interactive discussion provided a platform for cultural exchange, artistic dialogue and strengthening longstanding cultural ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Through such initiatives, the PNCA continues to promote contemporary art, encourage engagement between artists and audiences, and foster international cultural collaboration.
The exhibition will remain open until Oct 19, 2026, from 10am to 4pm daily.
