ISLAMABAD:
The Pharmacy Services and Drug Control (PS&DC), Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) has sealed a pharmacy operating inside a medical centre for selling medicines without a valid Drug Sale Licence and charging excessive prices, as part of a crackdown on violations of drug laws.
According to official sources, the action followed the initiation of strict monitoring to ensure compliance with an advisory issued in light of a recent judgment of the Federal Constitutional Court concerning the operation of pharmacies and medical stores by registered medical practitioners without valid licences.
The inspection team found the pharmacy involved in selling therapeutic goods and medicines without the required legal authorization and overpricing, leading to the sealing of the premises in accordance with the law.
The enforcement operation was conducted by Drug Inspectors Amber Basharat, Gulzaib Khan and Tahreem Sara under the supervision of Secretary, Quality Control Board, Sardar Shabbir Ahmed.
The department has directed all registered medical practitioners to strictly comply with applicable drug laws and the relevant advisory, emphasising that no pharmacy, medical store or other outlet may sell therapeutic goods or medicines without a valid Drug Sale Licence.
