Pakistan, Turkiye to boost anti-terror cooperation

Naqvi holds meeting with Turkish counterpart in Istanbul

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday arrived in Istanbul on an official visit to Türkiye, where he received a warm welcome at the airport.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met his Turkish counterpart, Mustafa Çiftçi, at the Turkish Ministry of Interior. Both Interior Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed his Turkish counterpart on the positive results of Pakistan's crackdown against the illegal immigration mafia.

During the meeting, the two Interior Ministers signed an agreement to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye in combating terrorism, narcotics trafficking and organized crime.

Both sides also agreed to establish a "Joint Working Group" to strengthen cooperation between their respective interior ministries.

The Turkish Interior Minister stated that the rate of illegal immigration from Pakistan to Türkiye had declined from 70% to 17%. He appreciated Pakistan's measures and acknowledged the remarkable reduction in illegal immigration.

The meeting also focused on enhancing collaboration in cyber policing, the Anti-Narcotics Force, the National Police Academy and other relevant fields.

The two countries agreed to further strengthen cooperation through technical assistance, exchanges of experts and joint initiatives.
