PTI's Salman Akram Raja vows large Punjab turnout

LAHORE:

PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has said the party will not enter into any agreement that compromises its principles, vowing that Punjab will participate in the planned long march with large numbers of caravans.

Speaking to the media at the Lahore High Court on Friday, Raja said the lives of ordinary citizens were paramount for the party and it would not become part of any course of action that resulted in the shedding of innocent blood.

"We will not allow innocent people to be made homeless. We are prepared to endure every hardship, but will not abandon our principles," he said.

Raja said he was discharging multiple responsibilities as the party's secretary general and was also looking after the cases of PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi.

He said he was mobilising party workers across Punjab and asserted that the province would participate in the long march in large numbers.

Commenting on the situation in K-P, Raja claimed that the provincial government had effectively ceased to function and alleged that a deputy commissioner was refusing to comply with its authority.

He condemned what he described as a crackdown on PTI workers in Peshawar the previous day, alleging that several party workers had been abducted.

"We will endure this brutality because we stand on the side of truth," he said, alleging that fascism prevailed across the country and urging those responsible to exercise restraint and reconsider their actions.
