Mark Harmon’s Gibbs returns to civilisation in new ‘NCIS: Origins’ clip
Mark Harmon returns as Gibbs and reunites with a longtime friend in a new ‘NCIS: Origins’ clip from Tuesday’s episode

Mark Harmon is returning to the world beyond Alaska as Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the upcoming episode of NCIS: Origins. A new clip from the October 13 instalment shows the longtime agent reuniting with an old friend after spending years living remotely.
In the preview, Gibbs walks along a busy boardwalk while reflecting on the bonds that can draw teammates back to people and places they thought they had left behind. He then arrives at a house and is greeted by Woody, played by Bobby Moynihan. Woody reacts with surprise, telling Gibbs, “My God, you’re still stunning,” before adding, “Well, this can’t be good.”
The reunion follows the third-season premiere, in which Gibbs was shot by a sniper outside his Alaskan home. The attack appears to prompt his return to civilisation. The present-day storyline will see him investigate a mystery connected to his time at Camp Pendleton in the 1990s.
Harmon, who played Gibbs on NCIS for nearly two decades, is appearing as the character in all 10 episodes of NCIS: Origins season three. He previously served as narrator and an executive producer during the prequel’s first two seasons.
The October 13 episode will also feature a storyline set in Gibbs’ past. A younger version of the agent, played by Austin Stowell, and his team will help a younger Woody after he is accused of murdering a rival from a bowling league.
Showrunner David J. North previously said Gibbs would leave Alaska for the first time in six years and hinted at more encounters with people from his past. North has also teased “so many surprises” during the season.
New episodes of NCIS: Origins air Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
