SHC suspends orders on KE tariff review
.

KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday suspended, on an interim basis, notifications and orders linked to the review of K-Electric's Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) for the period from fiscal year 2024 to 2030.
The court issued notices to the respondents on October 7 after K-Electric challenged the judgments of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Appellate Tribunal dated September 23, 2026, as well as NEPRA's review determinations of October 20, 2025 and subsequent notifications issued by NEPRA and the Ministry of Energy's Power Division.
K-Electric maintained before the court that although NEPRA has the authority to review a tariff determination, the review process cannot amount to a fresh re-determination of the tariff.
The power utility further argued that the review determinations had a substantial adverse impact on its MYT for FY2024-FY2030, making the tariff framework financially unsustainable.
