Veteran Bollywood actor and filmmaker Nana Patekar has died at the age of 75 on Thursday, Indian media reported.
According to the Indian media, Patekar collapsed after suffering a heart attack at his residence in Goa and was immediately rushed to hospital.
Doctors attempted to save him for approximately 45 minutes, but he could not be revived. His death was confirmed at 5:20am, the report stated.
Patekar began his acting career in 1978 with the film Guman and remained associated with the film industry for several decades.
He appeared in several successful films, including Krantiveer, Paranda, Welcome and Ab Tak Chappan.
During his career, he received three National Film Awards and was also honoured with the Padma Shri in 2013.
Indian film personalities and political leaders have expressed grief over his death.
