Sophie Rain has responded to comedian Pete Davidson’s criticism of influencers who make $40 million a year by saying she is the person behind the figure.

Rain, a social media influencer and TikToker, addressed Davidson’s comments in a 75-second video. She said her reported earnings of more than $43 million in her first year on a subscription platform came from posting bikini and lingerie content.

“Telling you guys some facts about myself since Pete Davidson said, 'Who the f*** are you?'” Rain said. “My name is Sophie Rain, and yes, I am the girl who made $40 million in a year for doing nothing.”

Rain said that most of her income comes from her work on the subscription platform rather than her social media accounts. She also discussed her previous employment, saying she worked as a server before becoming a creator.

“Although the money does come easy for me, it wasn't always like that,” she said. “I used to work a 9-to-5 job as a server for three and a half years before doing social media.”

Rain also rejected the idea that being an influencer requires little work, saying creators must consistently produce content to maintain their audiences.

“Contrary to popular belief, being an influencer is a lot of work,” Rain said. “You have to post every single day without fail or your views are going to drop tremendously.”

She referenced Davidson’s previous relationship with Kim Kardashian, saying, “I thought Pete would know this after dating the most popular influencer in the world, but I guess paying attention to your significant other isn't everyone's priority in a relationship.”
