Man arrested for alleged honour killing of daughter

FAISALABAD:

Police claimed to have arrested the father of an 18-year-old woman whose body was recovered from a tube well after allegedly being killed by him in the name of honour.

According to police, the victim, Anum, daughter of Azhar Iqbal, a resident of Chak 421-GB, Rasoolpura, was allegedly in contact with a young man, Umar Sarfraz, over the phone. Police said her father had learnt about the contact and allegedly strangled her while she was asleep.

Police said the father allegedly wrapped the body in the same sheet and dumped it in a tubewell near the village under the cover of darkness.

The victim's father had earlier registered a case of her alleged kidnapping at City Tandlianwala Police Station.
