ECP summons K-P officials over LG elections

ISLAMABAD:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has fixed the case concerning local government (LG) elections in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) for September 29, summoning the K-P chief secretary and secretary for LGs to appear in person.

The ECP had given the K-P government time to make changes to the provincial LG law prior to holding LG elections. The latest hearing will examine progress on the proposed changes and the government's preparedness to proceed with the electoral process.

Meanwhile, the polls oversight body has also listed for hearing a case concerning the intra-party elections of the Kisan Ittehad Party.
