Silent Hill project in development from Zach Cregger's 'Resident Evil' producer

'Resident Evil' producer Roy Lee is reportedly developing new Silent Hill project, with few details confirmed

A new Silent Hill project is reportedly in development from Roy Lee, the producer behind the latest Resident Evil film.

Lee’s Resident Evil, directed by Zach Cregger, opened in cinemas on September 18 and reportedly earned $108.3 million worldwide during its first weekend.

Its $60 million opening in the US and Canada made it the biggest domestic opening for a Resident Evil film.

Lee is now attached to a new Silent Hill project, according to The Wall Street Journal. The development could bring the video game horror franchise back to screens following several previous film adaptations.

Silent Hill first arrived in cinemas in 2006, adapting elements of the video game series and introducing audiences to its fog-covered town and creatures. The film developed a cult following despite receiving a mixed critical response.

It was followed by Silent Hill: Revelation in 2012. The franchise returned to cinemas in January 2026 with Return to Silent Hill, which also received a divided critical response.

Details about Lee’s new Silent Hill project remain limited. It is not yet clear whether the project will be a feature film or television series. No information has been announced about its story, cast, director or release date.

It is also unclear whether Cregger will have any involvement in the project. Cregger directed the latest Resident Evil adaptation, which features a new protagonist while incorporating elements from the game franchise.

Lee reportedly has around 20 video game-based films and television projects in development or production. Alongside Silent Hill, his projects reportedly include adaptations of God of War and Battlefield.
