David Krumholtz has explained why he was absent from the 10 Things I Hate About You cast reunion on Dancing with the Stars, revealing that filming commitments in New York prevented him from attending.

The reunion took place on October 20 during the show's Dedication Night, when Julia Stiles honoured her late co-star Heath Ledger with a dance. Several original cast members joined Stiles to support the tribute, including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Larisa Oleynik, Andrew Keegan, Susan May Pratt and Gabrielle Union.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight after the show, Stiles explained that she had contacted her former co-stars to bring everyone together for the special occasion. She also clarified that Krumholtz had wanted to attend but could not travel to Los Angeles because he was working on an HBO production in New York.

Krumholtz addressed his absence in an Instagram video the following morning, explaining that he was filming in the Catskill Mountains. The actor said he would have loved to join the reunion and praised Stiles' tribute to Ledger, describing it as amazing and stunning.

He also joked that his changed appearance might have attracted unwanted attention online, revealing that he had shaved what remained of his hair for a role. However, he stressed that this was not the reason he missed the event.

Krumholtz's recent projects include HBO's limited series The Trial of Louise Woodward, in which he will portray criminal defence attorney Harvey Silverglate. He has also joined the voice cast of Benny Safdie's upcoming film Lizard Music, starring Dwayne Johnson as the Chicken Man.

The actor is also set to appear in Mr Irrelevant, scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 25.
