Dar meets UNGA chief, Bahraini FM

Discusses multilateral cooperation, bilateral ties

ISLAMABAD:

DPM/FM Ishaq Dar on Friday met President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly 81 proceedings in New York.

During the meeting, Dar congratulated Rahman on assuming the presidency of the General Assembly and assured him of Pakistan's full support and constructive engagement throughout his tenure, said a news release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Office of the Spokesperson here on Friday.

The two sides reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to multilateralism and underscored the central role of the United Nations in addressing global challenges. The discussion also touched on a range of matters of mutual interest, the statement said.

DPM Dar expressed confidence in Rahman's leadership of the General Assembly and reiterated Pakistan's continued engagement in supporting and advancing the body's work in the year ahead.

Bahraini FM

Dar also met with Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The two leaders discussed bilateral relations, including preparations for the forthcoming 3rd Session of the Joint Ministerial Commission, and exchanged views on regional and international developments.

Foreign Minister Al Zayani appreciated Pakistan's constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability.

The two foreign ministers reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and maintaining close coordination at bilateral and multilateral fora.
