Sindh crucial to growing America-Pakistan ties, says US consul general

Sindh has remained crucial to the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and the United States, with growing commercial engagement between the two countries offering further opportunities for cooperation, US Consul General Charles Goodman said on Thursday.
Speaking at a reception hosted by the US Consulate General in Karachi to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, Goodman traced the friendship between the two countries back to Pakistan’s independence and highlighted Sindh’s role in strengthening bilateral ties.
“Lasting stability is built on economic prosperity, and our consulate team in Karachi plays a vital role in unlocking that potential across Sindh and Balochistan,” Goodman said, according to a statement issued by the Public Diplomacy Section of the US Consulate General Karachi.

This week, the U.S. Consulate General Karachi hosted “Freedom 250: The American Brand,” a special reception celebrating America’s milestone.

He said the US government supported more than 80 American companies operating in Pakistan, while bilateral trade in goods and services had surpassed $11 billion last year.
The reception, organised under the “Freedom 250” campaign, brought together representatives of the government, business community, academia, civil society, media, diplomatic corps and US exchange programme alumni.
Sindh Assembly Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah attended as chief guest, while Sindh Governor Syed Nehal Hashmi was the guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Hashmi underscored the importance of expanding cooperation between the two countries, particularly in education, technology, creativity and entrepreneurship.

“For our generation, contributing [to the future of our nations] increasingly means knowledge, education, creativity, and technology,” he said, calling for stronger links between American innovation and Pakistani talent, US universities and Pakistani students, and entrepreneurs in both countries.
Speaker Shah congratulated the United States on its 250th anniversary and highlighted the contribution of Pakistan-US cooperation to Sindh in education, economic opportunity and cultural exchange.
He expressed confidence that bilateral collaboration could be expanded further in a sustainable manner.

The “Freedom 250” campaign is being observed by US diplomatic missions worldwide to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the US Declaration of Independence. President Trump launched the celebration under the banner, “A New Era of American Greatness,” which was carried forward by the US embassies and consulates across the globe.
The Karachi event also featured the theme “The American Brand”, highlighting American innovation, enterprise, and creativity.
The celebration also paid tribute to the foundational ideals of July 4, 1776, and echoed President Trump’s emphasis on America’s lasting principles while reaffirming Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker’s message that a strong Pakistan benefits America, and a strong America benefits Pakistan.
