Bhat hails Erdogan for raising Kashmir issue at UN

Senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and Chairman Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement Altaf Ahmed Bhat has expressed profound appreciation to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for once again raising the Jammu and Kashmir dispute from the platform of the United Nations General Assembly, saying that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deeply value Türkiye's continued diplomatic attention to their political aspirations.

Addressing the 81st session of the UN General Assembly on September 22, President Erdogan said that disputes in South Asia, including Kashmir, should be addressed through dialogue within the framework of the UN Charter and relevant resolutions.

Altaf Ahmed Bhat said President Erdogan's intervention was particularly meaningful because it brought Kashmir before the international community at one of the world's most important diplomatic forums.

"On behalf of the Kashmiri people, I convey our sincere gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the people of Türkiye. When a world leader speaks about Kashmir from the podium of the United Nations and refers to the UN Charter and relevant resolutions, Kashmiris hear a message that their political future has not disappeared from international attention," Bhat said.

He said Kashmiris particularly appreciate the consistency with which President Erdogan has referred to the dispute at international forums. Erdogan also raised Kashmir during his 2025 UN General Assembly address, similarly calling for dialogue and reference to UN resolutions.
