Man held over girl's killing in two hours

ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Wednesday arrested a man in less than two hours for allegedly subjecting a three-year-old girl to abuse before killing her in the jurisdiction of Noon Police Station.

An official said Noon police immediately registered a case and launched an investigation after receiving information about the disappearance of three-year-old Sakina.

Islamabad DIG Ali Waseem constituted police teams under the supervision of Industrial Area Zone SP Dr Ayaz Hussain to trace the missing child and arrest the person involved.

Police said seven teams were formed for the operation, while SHOs from all police zones also participated in the search.

With the help of CCTV footage, modern technology and human intelligence, the police teams traced and arrested the suspect, identified as Kashif, in less than two hours.

Police said that following information provided by the arrested suspect, the body of the child was recovered and shifted to hospital for medico-legal examination and further legal formalities.

According to police, the initial investigation indicated that the suspect was a close relative of the child. Further investigation was underway to establish all aspects of the incident.
