Pete Davidson and Colin Jost hosted free comedy show aboard their Staten Island Ferry project with Snapple

Pete Davidson and Colin Jost have brought their long-discussed Staten Island Ferry entertainment project to life with a one-night comedy show aboard the decommissioned vessel they bought in 2022.

The comedians joined a group of investors who purchased the John F. Kennedy ferry for $280,000 at a city auction. Built in 1965, the ferry was the oldest vessel in the Staten Island fleet when it was retired because of mechanical failures.

Davidson and Jost initially planned to transform the ferry into a floating entertainment venue, but the project attracted criticism after the purchase was announced. Four years later, they partnered with Snapple for a free, one-night comedy event aboard the vessel.

The ferry was temporarily renamed the Snapple Island Ferry for the event, which was designed as a promotional activation for Snapple's return to its glass bottles in select New York retailers.

Limited free tickets were released daily from September 3 to 8, creating demand among attendees hoping to secure a place at the comedy show.

The event featured performances from several comedians, including Matt Richards, Sal Vulcano and Caitlin Peluffo.

Davidson and Jost opened the event, addressing the criticism surrounding their ferry purchase. Davidson said, "The amount of shit that people have talked," before adding, "Well, suck it!"

Davidson also thanked attendees for coming and said the pair had wanted to stage the event for around five years. "This is something we've wanted to do for like five years, so thank you guys for coming out," Davidson said.

The event also marked Snapple's glass-bottle revival, following the brand's limited return to glass bottles in 2025 after years of using plastic packaging.
