Ramazan price monitoring to begin next month

The Punjab Chief Minister's Special Assistant for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Salma Butt on Sunday directed authorities to begin advance measures from October to monitor the supply, demand, stocks and prices of essential commodities ahead of Ramazan.

Presiding over a performance review meeting of the PERA Force and price control magistrates at the Deputy Commissioner's Office, she ordered enhancement of the cold storage capacity to ensure adequate stocks of apples, dates, gram, bananas and other essential commodities.

Price-control measures, enforcement operations and the district's supply situation were reviewed.

The district food controller briefed participants on wheat and flour stocks and the operation of mills.

The special assistant said a digital application had been introduced for price control and directed officials to upload the inspection and enforcement record on the system promptly. She also ordered strict implementation of officially notified price lists.
