45 receive medical aid during MDCAT

A candidate was hospitalised and 44 others were provided first aid during the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) held at centres across Punjab.
The emergency service deployed 54 ambulances, 114 rescue motorcycles and 33 fire and rescue vehicles at the test centres.
A total of 54 dedicated rescue posts, 19 mobile rescue teams and 514 rescuers were deployed to provide emergency and medical cover on the occasion.
In Lahore, 11 students received first aid, while the number was 12 in Multan, 10 in Sahiwal, three each in Bahawalnagar, Gujrat and Rawalpindi, two in Layyah and one in Faisalabad.
An 18-year-old applicant, Hira Niaz Khan, fell ill at the Punjab University examination hall on Wahdat Road and was shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
Authorities had set up 31 examination centres in 15 cities of the province where the test was conducted by the University of Health Sciences from 10:00am till 1:00pm.
According to official data, 49,203 candidates were registered for the test, of whom 47,501 appeared while 1,702 remained absent.
In Lahore, 11,480 candidates appeared, Faisalabad 5,234, Dera Ghazi Khan 1,814, Rawalpindi 6,045, Gujrat 1,356, Sahiwal 2,367, Sargodha 1,857, Gujranwala 2,495, Sialkot 1,912, Bahawalpur 2,213, Rahim Yar Khan 1,020, Multan 6,911, Layyah 1,571, Bahawalnagar 545 and Mianwali 681.
