Anti-polio drive today

A week-long anti-polio vaccination campaign is set to begin across Karachi on Monday, with arrangements completed to vaccinate around 2.5 million children under the age of five.

Polio Task Force Coordinator Saud Yaqoob briefed Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi that preparations for the campaign had been completed in coordination with the relevant Emergency Operations Centre, health officials, polio teams, area supervisors, government departments and representatives of international partners.

The commissioner said community members are also being engaged to support the campaign and directed all deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners to remain in the field and regularly monitor progress.

Deputy commissioners have been tasked with achieving 100 per cent vaccination coverage in their respective districts. They will also oversee the deployment of vaccination teams, security arrangements and coordination with international partners on a daily basis.
