Courts to get new security, access facilities

The district administration and the Rawalpindi District Bar Association have reached an agreement to pave the routes of the old district courts and install tough tiles, repair faulty closed-circuit cameras and reinstall the two main entrance gates demolished during the Kacheri underpass project 10 months ago.

The deputy commissioner told the bar president that the district courts were also their own institution and that all issues and difficulties, including security problems, would be resolved.

Tough tiles would be installed on all routes used by judges, lawyers and litigants to enter and leave the district courts.

President District Bar Association Tariq Mahmood Sajid Awan, accompanied by bar office-bearers, met the deputy commissioner at his office and briefed him about problems being faced at the courts.

The president and secretary of the bar association informed the deputy commissioner about the security situation at the courts, faulty CCTV cameras and the absence of a guard room for police personnel and a room for searching women.

The deputy commissioner said tough tiles would be installed on all entry and exit routes of the courts so that litigants and lawyers could easily reach the courts, bar office and chambers.

Faulty cameras would be replaced, the sanitation system would be improved and the sewerage system would be upgraded.
