Schools face tighter monitoring

AEOs, Dy DEOs given mandatory daily school visit targets

The Punjab School Education Department has issued detailed instructions to field education officers and heads of schools, requiring Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) to inspect four schools and one high school daily, while Deputy District Education Officers (Dy DEOs) will visit four schools each day.

Heads of schools will personally inspect their institutions three times a day.

The directives have been issued to strengthen monitoring and accountability in educational institutions. During a Zoom meeting chaired by the Secretary of the Punjab School Education Department, field officers and heads of schools across the province were given instructions regarding cleanliness, the educational environment, school monitoring and field visits.

Under the directives, every AEO will visit four schools in their respective centre and one high school daily. They will inspect cleanliness, the educational environment and available facilities on the spot, and record all observations in the school visit logbook.

Deputy DEOs will visit at least four schools daily, including one secondary school and three other schools in their assigned areas. All observations and corrective measures must also be recorded in the visit register.

Every head of school will personally inspect the school three times a day and ensure cleanliness and overall arrangements before leaving the premises. Particular attention will be paid to the cleanliness of classrooms, washrooms, computer and science laboratories, grounds, corridors and other areas.

All field officers have been directed to be present in the field before 7am and ensure cleanliness before schools open. Where necessary, whitewashing and minor improvement works may be carried out using available funds in accordance with financial rules.

Photographic evidence of field visits will be mandatory, with the date, time and location services activated. Effective coordination will also be maintained with Suthra Punjab teams to improve cleanliness in schools, while school councils will be actively involved in monitoring sanitation.
