Twin cities face gas shortages

ISLAMABAD:

Unannounced gas load-shedding and extremely low pressure have made life difficult for the residents of various localities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, while the schedule announced by the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) is also reportedly not being followed.

The official gas load-shedding schedule is from 6am to 9am, but supply remains available for only a limited period even during these hours.

In Islamabad, residents of PWD, Media Town, Police Foundation, Pakistan Town, I-8, G-8 and G-Nazim, as well as those in IJ Principal Road, Double Road, Shamsabad and Dhok Kashmirian in Rawalpindi, said gas was supplied at around 6.15am or 6.30am instead of 6am and discontinued by 8.15am.

Similarly, under the 12pm to 2pm schedule, gas is supplied at around 12.30pm and discontinued before 1.30pm.

The situation remains similar in the evening, with supply starting at around 6.30pm instead of 6pm and being discontinued at around 8.15pm instead of 9.30pm.

The frequent suspension of gas supply has caused serious difficulties for women in cooking, while children and elderly people are also facing inconvenience.

Residents have urged the authorities to ensure full implementation of the announced gas supply schedule and provide relief to consumers.
