Bill Skarsgård has been cast as the lead in Hideo Kojima’s upcoming action-espionage video game Physint, which is being developed by Kojima Productions and published by Xbox.

Kojima confirmed Skarsgård’s casting during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast on Thursday, September 17, following last week’s announcement that Xbox would take over publishing duties for Physint. The game had previously been associated with PlayStation.

Kojima said he and Skarsgård are “long-time fans of each other’s work” and revealed that they had already completed costume fittings, scans and camera tests earlier this year. He said the work with Skarsgård and fellow cast member Charlee Fraser gave him confidence in the project’s direction.

Skarsgård joins an ensemble cast that includes Fraser, Don Lee and Minami Hamabe. Physint is described by Kojima Productions as its third original IP and an action-espionage game that Kojima considers a culmination of his 40-year career in game development.

The project marks another collaboration between Kojima Productions and Xbox. The companies are also working together on OD, a horror game featuring Sophia Lillis and Hunter Schafer, while their partnership is set to extend into film and television projects.

Skarsgård is best known for playing Pennywise in It and It: Chapter Two. His recent credits include Nosferatu and It: Welcome to Derry.
