Ed Sheeran and Robert Kraft pledge $2 million as aid after Macklemore's call for donation

Ed Sheeran plans to donate $2 million to support humanitarian efforts in Gaza, while New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft says he will match the contribution.

Kraft said Sheeran contacted him and asked him to commit $2 million to support efforts aimed at addressing the humanitarian crisis in the region.

The specific organisations receiving the donations have not been identified.

In a statement posted by the Gillette Stadium X account, Kraft said, “I have dedicated much of my life to building bridges between all people. I believe deeply that all lives are worth protecting.”

He added, “Earlier today, before Macklemore challenged me to match his donation, Ed called me and asked me to commit $2 million to match his donation to aid in the region to fight this humanitarian crisis.”

Kraft also said Sheeran planned to approach other venue owners as part of an effort to encourage further support.

The announcement follows rapper Macklemore’s decision to donate $1 million in net earnings from his support slot on Sheeran’s Loop Tour to organisations supporting the Palestinian people.
