UC secretary caught taking bribe

RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested the Panjgran Secretary of Union Council following an inquiry after he was caught soliciting a bribe red-handed.

Secretary Munawar Shah reportedly agreed to accept Rs20,000 personally for issuing a second marriage permission to a citizen.

According to officials, Sohail Sajid, a resident of Gujar Khan, approached the Regional Director of Anti-Corruption Rawalpindi to acquire a permission certificate. He stated that he had obtained formal permission from his first wife for a second marriage. He said that when he paid a visit to the Panjgran Union Council Secretary along with his first wife to secure the necessary certificate, Munawar Shah demanded Rs50,000 from him.
