PS5 Pro gets sharper visuals with Sony’s upcoming system update

Sony’s PS5 update 14.0 will make Enhanced PSSR default on PS5 Pro for supported games

Sony is preparing a new PS5 system update that will make its Enhanced PSSR technology the default setting on PS5 Pro consoles for supported games.

PS5 beta testers are already testing system software update 14.0, which includes PSSR 2.0 Enhanced alongside changes to Bluetooth accessory and console settings.

Enhanced PSSR is Sony’s AI-powered upscaling technology, designed to improve image quality and visual fidelity on compatible games.

The system reconstructs lower-resolution images at a higher resolution, allowing supported titles to produce sharper and more detailed visuals while maintaining a smooth frame rate.

Following the release of system software update 14.0, Enhanced PSSR will be enabled by default on PS5 Pro. Players therefore will not need to manually activate the feature through the console’s system settings.

The technology is exclusive to PS5 Pro, meaning standard PS5 consoles will not receive the graphics feature.

Update 14.0 will also introduce changes to Bluetooth and HDMI Link settings across PS5 and PS5 Pro. If Bluetooth is switched off, the console will no longer enter Rest Mode, while HDMI Link will also be disabled.

The update will additionally include performance and stability improvements.

According to YouTuber TCMFGamesOFFICIAL, PS5 beta testers have been using system software update 14.0 for several weeks, giving Sony time to address potential issues before its wider release.

Sony has not confirmed an exact release date for the update. However, it is expected to roll out to all PS5 users within the coming weeks, potentially before the end of September.
