ABC sets the record straight amid reports that 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' could end in 2027 after 24 years

Jimmy Kimmel Live is reportedly set to end in 2027 after 24 years, although ABC has rejected the claim and called the report inaccurate.

According to Page Six, the ABC late-night programme could conclude after its upcoming season, with a source familiar with the situation claiming that Kimmel’s contract “is not getting extended”.

The season began Tuesday and is expected to run until May 2027.

However, ABC Entertainment disputed the report. “This information is inaccurate,” an ABC spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly. “Any reports about the future of the show at this point are purely speculative.”

Kimmel has hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live since 2003, making him one of the longest-running network late-night hosts. The programme initially aired at 12.05am before moving to the 11.35pm time slot in 2013.

The uncertainty comes after Kimmel previously discussed the possibility of leaving the show. ABC extended his contract by one year to May 2027 rather than offering its usual three-year renewal.

Kimmel has also faced political controversy during his tenure. Last year, ABC temporarily pulled the programme from the air following comments he made about Charlie Kirk’s killing, before reinstating the show.

Page Six reported that Kimmel’s departure would be unlikely to be linked to his relationship with the Trump administration.

The report also noted that cost-cutting and restructuring at Disney could have influenced the decision.

For now, ABC maintains that reports about the future of Jimmy Kimmel Live remain speculative.
