LAHORE:

A technical working group formed by the Punjab Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department for the purchase of surgical and medical disposables has recommended dividing the tenders for the purpose into separate categories of surgical dressings, medical devices and anaesthesia and ICU items.

According to a statement, the group headed by Professor Asghar Naqi has held two meetings and received a response sought from the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) about free sale certificates for Chinese manufacturers.

On the recommendation of the group, fresh demand for shortlisted items has been sought from institutions and hospitals.

After ascertaining the demand, the bidding documents will be finalised, which will also include DRAP's guidance.

The working group has also recommended standardisation of disposable items.
