Dolly Parton Hollywood Walk of Fame star restored after vandalism

Dolly Parton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star has been replaced after the original was vandalised following the country music icon’s death at the age of 80.

Parton’s star, which was awarded in 1984, was damaged after vandals scratched the pavement plaque, leaving her name badly defaced.

The damage was discovered on Monday after fans had placed flowers, candles and photographs around the star as tributes.

Repairs were completed on Wednesday, with the Hollywood Historic Trust announcing that the replacement star will be unveiled on Friday.

“The Hollywood Historic Trust and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce are proud to honour the legacy of Dolly Parton with a replacement of her star,” the organisation wrote on Instagram.

“The new star will be available for viewing this Friday.”

Ana Martinez of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said tribute items left at the site had been cleared before repair work began.

The star had already been scheduled for repairs because of cracks before it was vandalised.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame contains more than 2,800 stars along Hollywood Boulevard, recognising achievements across the entertainment industry.

Parton received tributes from across the music world following her death last week. Known for songs including 9 to 5 and Jolene, she was laid to rest beside her late husband Carl Dean at a private family funeral in Nashville on Friday.

Her niece, Jada Star, also performed during a tribute concert at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House the following evening.

Parton’s legacy is also being commemorated at Dollywood, the Tennessee theme park she purchased in 1982.

The attraction has announced several new features, including a waterfall outside the chapel to create a “peaceful setting for guests to pause, reflect and enjoy the natural beauty” of the area.
