Jamie Foxx has revealed that a doctor who treated him after his life-threatening stroke told him that his eldest daughter, Corinne Foxx, was the reason he survived.

The 58-year-old actor opened up about the medical emergency during an appearance on Baby, This Is Keke Palmer, reflecting on the 2023 health crisis that left him hospitalised in Atlanta and later facing a long recovery.

Foxx said that after his recovery, he wanted to hear directly from the doctor who treated him and asked for his perspective on what had happened.

"Hey man, without her you wouldn't be here."

Foxx recalled the doctor making the significance of Corinne's actions even clearer, telling him: "Man, your daughter saved your life."

Corinne, who was 29 when her father suffered the stroke, had immediately stepped into what she later described as "caretaking mode". She was also the person who publicly confirmed that Foxx was recovering after his hospitalisation, helping to protect his privacy while false and alarming rumours about his condition circulated online.

Foxx has previously revealed that he suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke in April 2023 while he was working on the Netflix film Back in Action. The ordeal kept him away from the public eye for months and left him with significant gaps in his memory.

During his latest conversation, Foxx reflected on just how serious the situation had been. He also recalled visiting the Atlanta hospital where he was treated to thank approximately 60 nurses who cared for him during his recovery.

The actor has frequently used humour when discussing the experience, including in his 2024 Netflix comedy special What Had Happened Was..., where he opened up about the frightening period while acknowledging the people who helped him survive.

For Foxx, however, his latest revelation places particular emphasis on Corinne's role. The actor's daughter not only helped manage the crisis when he was unable to do so himself, but, according to the doctor who treated him, her actions may have ultimately made the difference between life and death.

Foxx and Corinne have remained especially close since the health scare. The pair currently work together as co-hosts of Beat Shazam, continuing a professional partnership that has become another part of their close father-daughter relationship.
