Netflix orders 'Manifest' spinoff Arrivals with a brand-new mystery

Netflix has ordered Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery, a new sci-fi spinoff from original creator Jeff Rake and team

Netflix is expanding the world of Manifest with a new sci-fi spinoff titled Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery.

The streamer announced the series on Friday, Aug. 28, bringing back members of the creative team behind the original drama.

Arrivals will be led by Manifest creator and showrunner Jeff Rake, who will serve as co-creator and co-showrunner alongside original series executive producers Margaret Easley and Laura Putney. Warner Bros. Television will serve as the studio.

The new series will introduce a separate mystery while remaining connected to the Manifest universe. According to the official logline, the story begins when a mysterious plane crash-lands in Denver. Its passengers emerge without memories of their identities, origins or reasons for being there.

A young social worker and a novice Homeland Security agent will work with the new arrivals as they attempt to prevent a catastrophe that could threaten humanity. Their investigation will eventually reveal that they are connected to the mystery they are trying to solve.

Netflix deliberately announced the Manifest spinoff on Aug. 28 at 8:28 a.m., referencing the significance of Flight 828 in the original series.

Manifest premiered on NBC in September 2018 and followed passengers aboard Flight 828 after their plane disappeared and returned more than five years later. NBC cancelled the series after three seasons in 2021, before Netflix revived it for a fourth and final season.

The fourth season was released in two parts in November 2022 and June 2023. Netflix said all four seasons have generated more than 130 million views since the first half of 2023.

Rake will also executive produce Arrivals with Easley, Putney, Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke, Len Goldstein and Jacqueline Levine. The new series will introduce a fresh cast and mystery while continuing the franchise created by Rake.
