Karachi is set to host the city’s first international electronic music event, with Swedish DJ and producer Axwell headlining First Light on September 19 at Moin Khan Academy (DHA Sports Club), according to a press statement issued by OP Productions.
Axwell, whose real name is Axel Christofer Hedfors, is a Swedish DJ and producer and a member of Swedish House Mafia. According to OP Productions, he is among the influential figures in modern electronic music.
Conceived and creatively directed by OP Productions CEO Omer H Paracha, First Light takes its name from the moment of dawn.
According to the statement, the event is designed as a cinematic, light-led production combining an international headline act with a purpose-built stage, large-format visuals and a focus on audience safety and experience.
OP Productions said Pakistan represents one of the largest untapped markets in global live entertainment, citing the country’s population of more than 240 million and its young median age as factors contributing to its potential audience for international touring artists.
The company said First Light is envisioned as a long-term platform for bringing international touring artists to Pakistan and placing the country on the global touring map.
“First Light is about showing the world what Pakistan is ready for,” Paracha said in the statement. “The people of Pakistan deserve the opportunity to experience events of this calibre, and as a nation we have every right to be on the global map.”
“We have the audience, the energy and the appetite for world-class live entertainment and with First Light we intend to prove to the world that Pakistan, and its people, are more than capable of hosting it,” he added.
According to the organisers, tickets are available through Ticketwala, with Bronze, Silver, Gold, VIP and Platinum categories on offer. Limited early-bird pricing is available across the tiers for a limited period.
The statement further said a dedicated Pink section has also been reserved exclusively for solo women as part of the event’s commitment to providing a safe and welcoming experience.
The company said it develops large-scale live experiences designed to meet international standards for safety, production and audience experience. Media queries can be directed to Khairaza Khan, Digital & Communications at OP Productions via social@opproductions.com or www.opproductions.com.
