Minister urges action on malnutrition

Minister for Health Mustafa Kamal has called for an integrated strategy to combat malnutrition and reduce stunting, stressing that health targets cannot be achieved without addressing the issue.
He expressed these views during a meeting with Adviser to the Finance Minister Adnan Pasha.
Kamal said maternal and child health was directly linked to proper nutrition and called for prioritising measures to address malnutrition.
He said around 11,000 mothers die every year in Pakistan during childbirth, while 43 per cent of children suffer from stunting due to malnutrition.
He said proper nutrition is the foundation of a healthy child.
