A social media campaign targeting Sindh lawmaker Ghulam Hussain Anar has taken a legal turn, with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) registering a case against a woman over alleged character assassination and the circulation of a false report claiming the MPA had died.
According to sources, the NCCIA registered the case after conducting an inquiry into a written complaint filed by the MPA.
The FIR alleges that the woman used a fake social media account to run a campaign aimed at defaming the complainant. She also allegedly uploaded a false report on social media claiming that Ghulam Hussain Anar had died.
During the investigation, the NCCIA obtained digital evidence from the relevant social media platforms, sources said. Following registration of the case, the agency has initiated proceedings to arrest the woman, according to sources.
