Four killed, two injured in road accidents
Four people, including an 11-year-old boy, were killed and two others injured in separate road crashes in different parts of the metropolis, police and rescue officials said on Sunday.
In the first incident, a water tanker rammed into with a trailer near Yusuf Goth Terminal on Northern Bypass in the Baldia area, within the limits of Mochko police station. The tanker driver was killed in the accident.
The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital's Trauma Centre, where the deceased was identified as 30-year-old Asad, son of Rahim.
PS Mochko SHO Sohail Farooq said preliminary information suggested that the collision occurred due to overspeeding. Police seized both vehicles and shifted them to the police station for further investigation.
In another accident, a motorcyclist was killed while another was injured near the Greeks Pona Pump in the Mauripur area.
The victims were shifted to the Civil Hospital's Trauma Centre, where the deceased was identified as 40-year-old Fayyaz, son of Ghulam Fareed, and the injured as 45-year-old Asghar, son of Ghulam Haider.
PS Mauripur SHO Anser Iqbal said the accident occurred at a u-turn. He said the two men were riding separate motorcycles when one was negotiating a u-turn and the other, travelling at high speed, collided with him.
Meanwhile, an 11-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a trailer near the PSO pump at Port Qasim in the Bin Qasim Town area.
The boy's body was shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities. His identity could not immediately be ascertained.
In another incident, a man injured in a traffic accident near Kafayah Mall on Hub River Road in the Baldia area died at Civil Hospital late Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Zubair, son of Dhani Bakhsh. Another man, 22-year-old Faheem, son of Kaleemullah, was injured in the accident.
Rescue officials said Zubair, a pedestrian, had sustained critical injuries after being hit by a speeding motorcycle. Saeedabad police, however, expressed ignorance about the incident.
