Sharjeel orders fare cut after diesel drop
Senior minister also instructed the relevant officials to strengthen monitoring on various routes

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has taken notice of public transport operators continuing to charge excessive fares despite a reduction in diesel prices. He has directed the transport secretary and other relevant authorities to ensure a corresponding cut in fares.
In a statement, Sharjeel said that the reduction in diesel prices must be reflected in public transport fares and that the decision should be strictly enforced. He directed authorities to take immediate action against transporters found charging passengers excessive fares.
"The government has a responsibility to provide relief to the public, and no transporter can be allowed to charge arbitrary or high fares," he said.
The senior minister also instructed the relevant officials to strengthen monitoring on various routes and take prompt action on complaints regarding overcharging.
Sharjeel made it clear that charging passengers excessive fares despite a reduction in diesel prices would not be tolerated under any circumstances, adding that legal action would be taken against violators.
