Jessica Simpson’s unbelievable journey is getting a Netflix documentary
Netflix is developing a Jessica Simpson documentary from Robbie Williams director Joe Pearlman, exploring her life

Netflix is set to release a new documentary about Jessica Simpson, offering viewers a closer look at the singer, entrepreneur and author’s life and career.
The feature documentary will be directed by Joe Pearlman, the filmmaker behind the Netflix documentary Robbie Williams. The project is expected to explore Simpson’s journey from pop star to successful entrepreneur while looking at key moments from her decades-long career.
Simpson first rose to fame during the late 1990s and early 2000s alongside fellow pop stars Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Mandy Moore. She has since sold more than 20 million records and expanded her career beyond music.
She became a major reality television figure through MTV’s Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, which followed her marriage to 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey. The reality series ran for three seasons between 2003 and 2005 and became a defining part of Simpson’s public image.
Beyond entertainment, Simpson built a billion-dollar fashion business and became a New York Times bestselling author with her 2020 memoir Open Book, which detailed various aspects of her personal and professional life.
The singer returned to original music last year after a 15-year hiatus, releasing the EPs Nashville Canyon: Part 1 and Nashville Canyon: Part 2. She also recently appeared as a guest star on the legal drama All’s Fair.
Pearlman has established himself as a prominent documentary filmmaker, with credits including Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now and Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts. His latest project, Mourinho, is a three-part Netflix documentary about football manager José Mourinho.
