Two armed men riding a motorbike opened indiscriminate fire on Salam’s vehicle and injured him and his daughter.
Both the victims were taken to the hospital, where Salam succumbed to his injuries. His daughter is in critical condition.
Police have registered a case and have started investigation.
Salam was a prominent lawyer of Khuzdar. The Balochistan Bar Association has strongly condemned the killing and has announced complete boycott of court tomorrow, as a protest against the killing.
Numerous leaders of the BNP have been killed in targeted attacks as the situation in Balochistan remains volatile. In July this year, BNP leader Jumma Khan Raisani was gunned down in Khuzdar.
President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Asma Jehangir said Balochistan’s situation has been deteriorating since the day security forces were given authority to make decisions for the province.

the pic which is attached with this news is not real, he is not Abdul Salaam Advocate...... plz change it
No one is stupid enough to bump off a BNP leader. This is the work of Harbayar Marri to implicate the Pakistani army.
For a moment I though it was "B" stood for Bangladesh and not Balouchistan. But, then again, what's the big difference anyway?
@strange: Digvijay Singh is a member of the Indian Congress and was a former CM in India. He is hated till the tilt in India. Since when have you started to believe in politicians?
@GetRidOfFeudalPolitics: Take a guess- mine would be that cynical is an Indian who is posting here since the majority of Baluch remain strongly pro Pakistani. That's why so many of them want to join up with the Pak military.
Inna Lillahi wa'Inna Ilaihi Ra'ajiuun...! Whoever is behind all this is utterly condemned....!
@Ameer Hamza: FC is totally pakhtun
@Digvijay Singh: strangely very balanced comments from apparently a non Pakistani
@Cynical: And you're a Baloch?
ISI style.
@ Yasser - the Balkanization is happening without foreign involvement. Get real please.
we all know who did this... just that we are afraid to speak the truth. Shameful for this country
@Yasser: I think we are both saying the same thing. I agree that the FC has done a great job of controlling anti state criminals sent over through Afghanistan by India. And yes many of them have been killed but overall they have controlled the situation. I am just pointing out that the FC personnel are Pashtun and not Punjabi.
@H.A. Khan: the Bar association is to busy throwing rose petals on murderers and hanging extremist stickers on their offices calling for the public to murder Ahmadis
BNP has also killed many innocent people.
@Grace You are surely not a Balochi. The majority of Baloch doesn't want to do anything with Pakistan.
@ Grace .. Don't make ridiculous and mocking joke. A substantive number of FC personals have been martyred in Baluchistan along with numerous innocent Balochi and Pakhtoons living there. I still believe in "Operation Blue Tulsi" under operation by R&AW assisted by CIA in Baluchistan. Their core objective is to balkanize Pakistan by destabilizing it with target killings and sabotaging its assets. I believe our great Abdul Salam (May his soul rest in peace) was martyred by Indian / CIA agents.
@Ameer Hamza: Perhaps you don't know the majority of FC personnel who are on duty in Baluchistan are Pashtuns from neighbouring Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. They have done an exemplary job of taming the anti state agents sent over from Afghanistan and they enjoy the support of the majority of Baluchis.
Security forces in Balochistan, most of whom are from Punjab, have scant respect or knowledge of the dynamics of the province. They seldom understand the culture or the language of the province they are supposed to control. In effect, they dont understand anything thereby creating hatred between Punjabis and Baloch people. This is very unfortunate and Pakistan Army has failed to do anything substantial about it.
I am finding it difficult to understand who could have been involved. It's a great mystery!
Anyway, historically speaking, the Baloch people have been slightly unfair with their demands against the state of Pakistan. The rulers of Kalat had acceded to Pakistan formally. By means of the Instrument of Accession, the Punjabi province of Pakistan has as much a right on the natural resources of Baloch region as a Balochi. The people of Balochistan must respect the sanctity of such treaties and offer the legitimate share of natural gas, copper and gold to the remaining people of Pakistan.
Unfortunately, some sinister misguided Balochi youth have been involved in the heinous murder of many Pakistani citizens. Still, the security establishment has been relatively slack in dealing with their criminal acts. The Balochis must consider themselves lucky in this regard that they are not living under a despotic regime like that of Pol Pot in Cambodia. Pakistan military will surely do everything possible to assuage their mistrust in the most constructive manner. I hope peace and prosperity prevails in the province of Balochistan and rest of Pakistan.
Not too hard to guess who killed him, right?
Sad killing. Any conflict has to be handled with political maturity, see Syed Ali Shah Gilani has not been bumped off in J&K even though he is openly pro Pak but if military is given a free hand without deft political handling it has tendency to run amok. Basically Baloch problem is political problem & has to be solved democratically otherwise you a second Bangladesh in the making.
Why are they killing lawyers?
I feel all Bar Associations of the country should rise up and tell authorities to ensure safety of all citizens
