'The Odyssey' leads South Korea box office over 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey remained at the top of the South Korean box office during the weekend of August 14-16, outperforming Spider-Man: Brand New Day for a second consecutive weekend.

According to KOBIS data operated by the Korean Film Council, The Odyssey earned $13.2 million from 1,691,744 admissions across 2,114 screens.

The film accounted for 59.07% of the weekend market and increased its second-weekend takings by nearly 28%. Since its August 5 release, it has grossed $35.2 million from 4,542,480 admissions.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day held second place in its third weekend, earning $5.6 million from 767,839 admissions. The film represented 25.47% of the weekend market and has reached $53.5 million from 7,279,373 admissions.

Teenieping: Legend of the Whale Heartstone remained in third place with $906,294 from 133,928 admissions. The family musical fantasy has earned $4.2 million from 633,527 viewers since August 5.

Ok! Madam: Bon Voyage opened in fourth place with $827,800 from 120,982 admissions. The action-comedy sequel has accumulated $1.3 million from 203,968 admissions.

The overall South Korean box office generated $22.3 million, compared with $22.9 million the previous weekend.
