NEPRA weighs Rs1.34 per-unit power tariff hike

KARACHI:

Electricity consumers across Karachi and the rest of the country may face a Rs1.34 per-unit increase in power tariffs for three consecutive months under the quarterly adjustment mechanism, according to NEPRA.

Under the adjustment, the per-unit electricity tariff could rise by Rs1.34 each month for three months, placing an additional burden of Rs34 billion on electricity consumers.

The authority reserved its decision after hearing the request submitted by the power distribution companies. NEPRA will announce its final decision after completing the scrutiny of the companies' request and related data.
