Girls shine as Hyd board announces class X results

Results released after month-long delay

HYDERABAD:

Female students once again outperformed boys in the Class X annual examinations conducted by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Hyderabad, with the results being announced about a month behind schedule.

The Science and General Group results were released late Thursday night on social media by Controller Examinations Professor Shakeel Laghari, who is serving on deputation.

In the Science Group, Sarah, daughter of Nisar Ahmed, of Foundation Grammar High School, Tando Allahyar, secured the top position with 991 marks.

Aswad Amir, son of Amir Ayub, of Government High School No 1, Matli, stood second with 986 marks, while Mukarrama Abid of St Mary's Convent Girls Higher Secondary School, Hyderabad, secured third position with 982 marks.

According to the results, 78,935 candidates had registered for the Science Group, while 77,703 appeared in the examinations. Of those who appeared, 10,799 secured A1 grade, 40,769 A grade, 17,248 B grade, 3,816 C grade and 239 D grade.

As many as 4,781 candidates were declared unsuccessful, while the results of 32 candidates were withheld due to copy cases and other unavoidable reasons.

In the General Group, Wajihullah Khan, son of Habibullah Rajput, of Deaf Reach Higher Secondary OPP TCF School SST, secured first position with 873 marks.

Habiba, daughter of Arif, of Government Girls High School, Latifabad Unit No 6, obtained second position with 865 marks, while her schoolmate Halima, daughter of Bacha Muhammad, secured third position with 861 marks. Of the 1,570 candidates who submitted examination forms for the General Group, 1,488 appeared in the examinations. Three candidates secured A1 grade, 332 A grade, 808 B grade, 227 C grade and 18 D grade.
