Pakistan reach Asian netball plate division final

The Green-shirts down Japan 53-25 in the semi-final in Hong Kong

Pakistan’s women’s netball team marked Independence Day celebrations with a commanding victory, defeating Japan 53-25 in the semi-final of the Asian Netball Championship 2026 plate division in Hong Kong.

Pakistan dominated the semi-final from the outset and maintained their momentum until the final whistle, completing a 28-point victory over Japan. The result has set up a plate division final against Thailand, scheduled to be played on Saturday.

The Pakistani side had shown considerable resolve during the championship and finally translated its hard work into a decisive result against Japan. Their coordinated movement, disciplined approach and attacking intent enabled them to keep control of the game and secure a comprehensive victory.

Among those who made notable contributions were Saba Noor Anwar, Lia Raza Shah, Hina Chaudhry, Serena Naseem, Jasmine, Farah, Noor-ul-Ain and Samaya Safdar. The players combined effectively to produce one of Pakistan’s most convincing performances of the tournament.

Pakistan had earlier made a strong start to their Plate Division campaign, defeating South Korea 72-23 before suffering a 66-48 loss to Thailand in their second outing. 

The Green-shirts responded impressively against Chinese Taipei, securing a 55-38 victory on Wednesday to book their place in the semi-finals. They carried that momentum into the last-four clash against Japan, producing another convincing performance to reach Saturday’s Plate Division final, where they will face Thailand in a rematch of their earlier encounter.
