All nine educational boards in Punjab, including the Board of Rawalpindi Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), have approved the introduction of a Digital Result Card System, marking a significant step towards the digitisation of examination records and student services.
Under the new system, students will no longer be issued conventional printed result cards by the boards. Instead, digital result cards will be made available online through the boards' newly developed results portal, enabling candidates to download and print their certificates from home or through commercial printing facilities.
The initiative is expected to reduce the boards' revenue, as they currently charge students Rs550 per candidate for the issuance of traditional result cards at the time of admission. That fee will no longer be applicable once the digital system is fully implemented.
The rollout will begin with Class IX and First Year annual examination results, while Class X and Second Year students will be brought under the system in the second phase. However, for the results scheduled to be announced on August 6, boards will continue to issue conventional printed result cards under the existing arrangements.
According to board officials, digital result cards for both regular and private candidates will be available online immediately after the announcement of results.
Regular students will be able to access their certificates through their respective institutions' online portals, while private candidates will download them directly from the relevant board's portal.
Each digital result card will incorporate a QR code and other advanced security features, allowing institutions and employers to verify its authenticity electronically.
The boards have confirmed that the digital result card will be recognised as an official government document and accepted for admissions, employment, scholarships, equivalence certificates, verification and all other academic and official purposes.
