Viral images appearing to show Emma Watson and George Clooney together at his Lake Como residence have sparked dating and divorce rumours online, but the claims are not supported by evidence.

The images circulated on X after allegedly showing Watson and Clooney leaving the actor's villa in Lake Como, Italy, on August 8.

The posts attracted thousands of likes and prompted speculation that Clooney was divorcing his wife, Amal Clooney, for Watson.

However, the viral images are altered. Paparazzi photographs shared by the Instagram account Deuxmoi showed Watson leaving Clooney's residence alone.

There is no evidence that she was photographed walking alongside Clooney.

Neither Watson nor Clooney's representatives had publicly addressed the rumours at the time of the report.

Some social media users speculated that Watson's visit could have been connected to a future acting project or possible work with Amal Clooney.

Watson has maintained a relatively low public profile in recent years. Her latest major public appearance was at a United for Wildlife event on 22 June, organised by the Royal Foundation.

The actor has not appeared in a new feature film since Greta Gerwig's Little Women in 2019, although she returned as part of the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts reunion in 2022.

Speaking to Hollywood Authentic in September 2025 about acting, Watson said, "I do very much miss using my skill set, and I very much miss the art. I just found I got to do so little of the bit that I actually enjoyed."

Watson also said years of working had affected her family life, adding that her life had "sort of bottomed out."
