WPC demands justice for Asma Jattak's father

Assembly orders IGP to arrest suspects, submit progress report

The Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) of the Balochistan Assembly has strongly condemned the brutal murder of Master Inayatullah Jattak, father of Asma Jattak, and called for the immediate arrest of all those responsible, demanding that they be brought to justice through a transparent and impartial investigation.

In a statement issued on Friday, the caucus described the killing as a tragic and irreparable loss for the family, expressing grave concern over what it termed the deteriorating law and order situation and the failure to protect citizens from persistent threats and violence.

According to the WPC, Asma Jattak and her family have endured years of harassment, death threats, pressure for forced marriage, abductions, and repeated violent attacks. The lawmakers said the latest incident underscores the urgent need for stronger legal protection for victims of intimidation and gender-based violence.

The caucus reaffirmed its firm opposition to all forms of violence, declaring that forced marriages, threats, coercion, and intimidation have no place in a civilized society. It urged the provincial government and law enforcement agencies to take immediate and effective measures to apprehend every individual involved in the murder and ensure exemplary punishment under the law.

The matter was also taken up during a session of the Balochistan Assembly, where members voiced serious concern over the incident. Following the discussion, the Assembly Speaker issued an official ruling directing the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan to ensure the prompt arrest of all suspects, initiate strict legal proceedings, and submit a comprehensive progress report to the Balochistan Assembly Secretariat.

The Women Parliamentary Caucus reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the rights, dignity, and security of women and vulnerable families, stressing that justice must be delivered without delay to restore public confidence in the rule of law.
